Fast Weight Loss Claims With Wild Mango
People are always looking for fast, natural ways to boost their weight loss efforts. Two studies within the last decade or so have indicated that a plant that naturally occurs in the wilds of West Africa may help you lose weight fast. Indeed, wild mango - which is scientifically known as Irvingia gabonensis - is a West African tree that produces distinctive nuts. Those nuts - or wild mangoes - are commonly turned into a paste that is mixed in with locally popular soups. Local residents who regularly consume wild mangoes exhibit far less incidences of obesity and obesity-related diseases like diabetes.
A Natural Weight Loss Supplement
The world at large is beginning to learn about what many in West Africa have known for some time: wild mangoes are excellent weight loss supplements. After taking note of the low levels of obesity among people who consumed wild mango paste on a regular basis, researchers decided to dig deeper into the phenomenon. In turn, a major study was conducted back in the year 2002 about the potential of wild mangoes in terms of achieving weight loss goals. During that study - and a later one that was conducted in 2008 - the connection between wild mangoes and weight loss become more apparent.
2002 Wild Mango and Weight Loss Study
In 2002 clinical trial was conducted to see the effectiveness of wild mango as a natural weight loss supplement. During the initial study, a group of forty obese people, aged 19 to 52, were monitored during their weight loss attempts. While both groups were ordered to follow a strict, low carb diet, only one group received three grams of wild mango seed extract per day. The other group of participants only received a placebo. The results of the study were abundantly clear: The group that was given the wild mango seed extract lost an average of 11.5 pounds, while the placebo group only lost an average of three pounds. Clearly, the wild mango was accelerating weight loss - but how?
The Science Behind Wild Mango Seed Extract
In order to get to the bottom of why wild mangoes seem to hold such promise for weight loss, you need to take a more scientific look into the phenomenon. Wild mango seed extract seems to reduce levels of something called C-reactive protein in the body. C-reactive proteins are known to bond with leptin - an appetite-control hormone - causing that hormone to become less effective. People with excessive levels of C-reactive protein in their bodies have a more difficult time suppressing their appetites, while those with low levels of it achieve more pronounced weight loss.
Giving The Body A Natural Weight Loss Boost
Based on the scientific data about C-reactive protein levels and wild mango's effect on them, it becomes clearer why local West African people have lower levels of obesity. It is also easier to see why the group that received wild mango seed extract in the 2002 and 2008 studies achieved greater weight loss success. Going forward, consumers can expect to see more wild mango supplements as people catch on to the weight loss benefits of including wild mango seed extract in their diets.
